crease in the school budget that remains even after the supervisors’ cut! Yes, even after the supervisors’ cut of $120,000, there is still a $257,000 increase over last year.. .
So you see, less is more than you ever saw! We have $257,000 plus $84,000, plus $110,000, which equals $451,000 of new monies for our schools next year. Yes, even after our cuts you all will have $451,000 over last year!
If we had decided to freeze spending in the schools and remove these other funds, we could take 20.5 cents right off the top of the tax rates.
If we were to freeze all spending, we could have cut the taxation rates here in Rappahannock back down to 30 cents!
But instead we are advertising a 26-cent increase up to 63 cents. Why? DAMNFINO! We must place one heck of a value on our teachers, I guess!
So you see, just like a spoiled baby, you all never even noticed that the cup was not half empty, why it’s a veritable GEYSER! If you all would just sit back for a moment, and try hard to understand what you did get, an increase equivalent to 20.5 cents or 41 percent of our present tax rates, you should be pitifully ashamed of your thanklessness, and inability to see that your cup runneth over. . .

It would take too much space here to list all of the parents bringing, or sending, numerous vegetable dishes and/or desserts. However, without your donations, we would not have achieved the outstanding spread we all enjoyed so much.
Our Athletic Banquet was a most enjoyable venture due to the cooperative effort of parents, athletes and coaches. Thank you.

It is unimportant what expressions were on whose faces, who used what language, or even who did or did not instigate anything. What is important is that we have had an opportunity to make our feelings known and also to be involved in the budget-making process.
It is long past time for everyone-to take a deep breath and let their reason have the upper hand.
