Literacy Volunteers
Forum
Literacy Volunteers of the Piedmont Area, an affiliate chapter of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., is sponsoring an all-day forum in Waynesboro, Virginia on Friday, June 25 to assist new groups with fundraising ideas and recruiting techniques and to give Virginia affiliates the opportunity to meet each other. A staff member from the national headquarters in New York will be on hand to answer questions and to assist new groups in start-up procedures.
The Child Care and Learning Center is heading up an effort to establish a local chapter of LVA and would like to hear from individuals or groups who are interested in adult literacy. In particular, the Center invites the participation of local social service agencies, the library, civic clubs, churches and schools in starting a local chapter. Those wishing to attend the Waynesboro forum or who simply have an interest in participating in a local chapter should call Camille Harris at 675-3757, or Linda Dietel at 675-3826.
