Auditions For Talent Showcase
RAAC’s annual Talent Showcase to be held at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday, June 29 will be holding auditions Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. in the theater. People of all ages are invited including dancers, singers, comedians, jugglers, actors, poets and musicians. Strong emphasis will be placed on original work. Call 703-675-3193 for information.
Farm Policy Conference
A one-day statewide farm policy conference on farming with comparative advantage in Virginia will be held on June 19 at the Holiday Inn/Airport in Roanoke, according to Birgitt Thornhill, Rappahannock’s Extension Agent, who also reports that the program is designed for an audience of farmers, agribusiness operators and farm organization and agency leaders.
The Virginia-centered program is devoted to the future of farming and agriculture in Virginia. Speakers include farmers who are actively engaged in managing orchards, producing vegetables and raising cattle and sheep.
A $25 registration fee will be charged to partially cover program cdsts. Any interested person may attend.

Honorary Fire Chief Contestants Needed
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department needs girls between the ages of 13 and 19 to run for Miss Honorary Fire Chief 1985. Girls living in the areas of Chester Gap, Huntly, Lake Front Royal, First Blue Ridge Mountain Estates and surrounding areas may run. If you wish to be a contestant please contact Karen Williams at 635-4673. The Chester Gap annual carnival will be held July 17-20.
Ole Hollow Reunion
Families, friends and community members are invited to attend the annual Ole Hollow reunion on Sunday, June 23 at 1 p.m. at Thornton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and a beverage.
Beekeepers Annual Picnic
Beekeepers are invited to the mountain top summer picnic of the Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association, Saturday, JuneM5 at 5 p.m. on Red Oak Mountain at Woodville.
Kemper Loyd, President of the Virginia Beekeepers Association * will be the guest speaker on the topic of How To Re-queen Honeybees. Loyd is also an Extension Agent in Goochland County.
This picnic will be a time for family enjoyment, bring a covered 3i«h with something in it to share and include some goodies made from honey.
