projects which utilize volunteer tutors on a one-on-one basis twice a week for an hour per session, tailoring the sessions to the student’s needs.
Steve Deupree, chairman of the Charlottesville Literacy Volunteers, will speak briefly on the work of their group in Albemarle County. Doug Ball, who currently teaches prison inmates in Page County and is working with a group in Fauquier County to start a program there, will be present to answer questions about his experience as an LVA tutor.
The presentation on illiteracy is being co-sponsored by the Child Care and Learning Center and the Rappahannock County Library.
