On Sunday, Mrs. Ertha Hawkins celebrated her 91st hirthday and was feted at a party given by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hawkins. Others here for the occasion were Mrs. Hawkins’ daughter Mrs. Cecil Carder of King of Prussia, Pa., Jonita Carder of Philadelphia and Cecil Carder, Jr., of California, Miss Linda Hawkins of Richmond, Charles Butler of Woodville and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Sims and Amanda. The Carders remained for a visit with her mother, and Linda spent the Labor Day holiday weekend with her parents
Mrs. Edith Green of Rt. 707, Mrs. Frances Campbell of Culpeper and Ms. Becky Campbell of Charlottesville have just returned from a two-week vacation in Clovis, New Mexico, where they visited many placed of interest.
Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Wood at Dun-Lookin during the Labor Day holiday weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haas, who were enroute to their home in Seminole, fFla., after a visit in New York, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Wood, Jr., and Jeremy of Poolesville, Md.
Congratulations to Miss Evelyn Marie Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alden Brooks, upon her coming marriage in October to Dr. Federico Guillermo Lorenzana of Manassas. He is the son of Raquel Lorenzana and Rebecca Falabella. Miss Brooks, who served a church mission in Argentina, is h! graduate of Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg. Dr. Lorenzana, who served a church mission in Honduras, is a graduate of the University of San Carlos, Guatemala.
Well, it’s that time of the year again for you music fans, and I mean live country music, the kind that nature provides. I can’t keep the secret any longer for it is hound music, and you can hear it through our community this week when the Northern Virginia Fox Hunters’ Association, Inc., holds its 21st annual bench show and field trials, Sept. 4-7. The bench show will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on Route 29. The hounds will be cast each morning, Thursday through Saturday. Hounds will come from Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York for the competition. The public is invited.
