Labor Day holiday brought a
few “minor” wrecks to the police blotter this week.
A 1953 Pontiac was run off the side of the road and struck a tree six miles north of Washington. The driver fell asleep.
The West Virginia woman was admitted to Fauquier Hospital with face and head injuries.
Damage to the car was estimated at $600. Two other minor accidents were reported over the weekend.
To date, there has oeen only one traffic fatality in Rappahannock County.
The Amissville Baptist Church defeated Remington on Saturday in a game played at Culpeper to take the Shiloh Association championship.
The Amissville team, managed by Jack James, had as its players Teddy Hodge, Wendell Latham, Douglas Bywaters, William James, 'David James, Billy Mills, Earl Mills, Otis Deal, Dan Smith and John James.
The score of the championship game was 10-0. David James and Billy Mills each hit a home run for Amissville.
A series of petty thefts have occurred recently in Rappahannock County.
A service station owned by Robert E. Miller and operated by Wilson Atkins on U.S. 211 ^ outside of Sperryville was entered by forcing a door. Only $5.63 in gasoline was taken.
The following night, a service station in Flint Hill was burglarized.

The first annual Rappahannock
Labor Day Invitational Handicap Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament was held at private courts in the county.
Winners were Mrs. I.L. Parish and J.A.B. Dalghren and runners-up were Mrs. John Carney and Michael Marsh.
