Wakefield School
opens Monday
For some 340 students who eked out two more weeks of summer, the party’s over.
Wakefield Country Day School opens its doors Monday, about two weeks after the county’s public schools began their session.
The Huntly school will welcome students at 9 a.m. Students are asked to bring their textbooks to class Monday.

The Boys Scouts, Cub Scouts and Tiger Cub Scouts will be recruiting Rappahannock’s young men Sept. 11 at the elementary school beginning at 7:30 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling the Shenandoah Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Winchester at 662-2551.
Harvest Dinner
set Sept. 8
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gerald L. Baliles will be the featured speaker at the Loudoun Democratic Committee’s Harvest Dinner this weekend.
It will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Middleburg Community Center. Tickets are $15 per person.
Aside from Mr. Baliles, guests will be former congressman Joseph L. Fisher, Pamela C. Harriman, chairman of Democrats for the 80s, and Ben Lawrence, a candidate for the 32nd District seat in the House of Delegates.
