The Child Care and Learning Center has scheduled a six-week course entitled “Our Bodies as Healers,” to be presented by Kathleen Maier, PA-C. Ms. Maier is a certified physician’s assistant and works with Dr. Susan Zimmer, DC, at Ladamamaya Herb Farm at Luray.

This introductory course is designed to increase participants’ understanding of their basic anatomy, physiology and methods of optimizing health and well-being. The approach will be holistic in that physical and mental as well as emotional and spiritual factors will be discussed.

The following gives a brief outline of the six presentations:

June 24 — Overview of various healing techniques. Discussion will include hows and whys of aroma, color and sound therapies. Principles of traditional healing such as yoga, Tai Chi, Syuroedic Medicine and herbal formulas will be highlighted in order to provide a foundation for the following classes.

July 1 — The nervous system. Explanation of this network and common disorders arising from imbalances here. Supportive nutrition, chiropractic treatments and relaxation exercises will be covered.

July 8 — The circulatory system.
