The ladies still have the upper
hand in Washington, Va. Mrs. Dorothy C. Davis was elected to the office of mayor in the election on Tuesday. On the written ballot, she polled 33 votes. Mrs. Davis was mayor of the town in 1950 when the first all-woman slate of officers was elected. Mrs. Martha Critzer, outgoing mayor, called her and congratulated her on being elected. Mrs. Critzer did not seek re-election.
The Little Nursery School opened Monday, June 11, at Trinity Episcopal Parish Hall. It is operated by Dana Snead, Susan Schaefer and Dotty Davis, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

A budget for Rappahannock
County for the fiscal year beginning July 1 was approved at the Board of Supervisors’ June meeting held Friday. The budget was adopted as proposed by the budget committee with one addition. An allocation of $600 was made for a part time assistant Extension Agent. This had been deleted from the budget prior to publication since there had not been an assistant available.
Miss Sharon L. Stone of Woodville received a Master’s of Education degree from the University of Virginia at commencement held June 4. Miss Stone is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Stone of Washington, D. C., and Hawthorn Farm, Woodville.
