The Virginia Federation of Republican Women has announced plans for A Day in Horse Country at Great Meadow, the home of the Virginia Gold Cup, on Saturday, June 21, from 11 to 5 p.m. The program will include equestrian events, hayrides, pony rides, blacksmithing, tailgating contests, a bluegrass band and a petting zoo.
A charitable fundraiser benefiting Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, this project was chosen by the VFRW as part of the “Caring for America” program initiated by the National Federation of Republican Women. A share of the proceeds will go to Great Meadow, several non-profit local groups who are participating, and to the VFRW, whose members are planning, organizing and staffing the event.
Children’s Hospital was selected as the beneficiary because of its fine record of pediatric health care and its policy that no child has ever been turned away because of a parent or guardian’s inability to pay for treatment.
