It is not too early to begin thinking about next spring’s planting season. The Division of Forestry is now accepting applications for the RT cost-share program for the 1987 spring planting season. Reforestation costs generally range from $35 and $50 per acre after cost-share help. In addition to the RT program, there are other federal and state cost-share programs that may also be available. These additional programs can further reduce the cost of planting.
Anyone interested in reforesting an old field or cutover area should call Buck Kline, Area Forester, at 948-5341 or Tippy Jenkins, Chief Forest Warden, at 987-8837. You can also write to Virginia Division of Forestry at P.O. Box 148, Madison, Va. 22727.
