Lila Whorton
Lila A. Whorton, 80, of Alexandria, died Feb. 5 at the Alexandria Hospital.
A native of Rappahannock County, she was bom June 12,1906, the daughter of the late Charles and Viola Woodward of Amissville. She was the wife of the late Roy M. Whorton.
A son, Warrant Officer Edward Whorton, of the U.S. Army, also predeceased her.
Mrs. Whorton retired from the Department of Army Dec. 31, 1974, with 30 years service.
She was a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister Elizabeth Moore and brother-in-law John R. Moore of Front Royal, nephews Garrison Moore, also of Front Royal, Roy 'Whorton of Amissville, Ervin Whorton of Linden, George Whorton of Castleton and Baylus Whorton of Centreville, and nieces Mrs. Virginia Clatterbuck of Amissville, Mrs. Ressie Utz of Falling Waters, W. Va., Mrs. Mary Dodson of Front Royal and Eunice Whorton of Amissville.
Memorial services were conducted Feb. 14 at the Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria by the pastor Rev. Donald Bowen. Interment was at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
