Gene Leggett questioned whether the council had worked out the figures for exactly what was needed for repair of the system, as well as for capital expenditures.
He also expressed a "sense of unfairness - (to tax) one entity in town which demands very little is subsidizing the town. It’s not fair. Most people in the room feel that way.”
Rev. Jennings Hobson told the council, “I don’t envy your job . . . People perceive you are picking on The Inn... It’s not pie in the sky -it has been done over the years.
This is not a big city . . . We’ve got to work this out in a way that will heal... The town needs water. .. (we) need a budget.”
After closing the public hearing, Mayor Morehouse told the residents that “The council appreciates your input. We have inherited these problems, we are trying to deal with them. We welcome your participation at all times ... We are an action council . . . We are going to solve these problems one way or another.”
He added that the suggestions would be taken under advisement, and looked at dining the council’s Wednesday, Feb. 25 work session.
