Understanding

Righteousness Part 1

Have you ever been afraid to call youself righteous? The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that Jesus knew no sin but became sin for us, he took our sin and gave us his righteousness. If you have accepted him, you have been MADE righteous; remember, by faith we are saved, not of works it’s through God’s grace (Eph. 2:8 & 9). So there is nothing we can do on our own that will make us righteous in God's sight, Jesus has done it all for us!

So many times we are afraid of the word righteousness, some may think it means self-gain or being to high minded, but it actually means “free from guilt or sin.”

If we are a Christian we need to become righteousness conscious. Instead of feeling we are unworthy in God's sight, lets look at ourselves as being bought with a price, that price - the blood of Jesus Christ. If we say we are unworthy in God’s sight, we are saying the blood of Jesus was not good enough for us; but we know God’s sacrifice was good enough (please read Hebrews chap. 10).

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:34 to “Awake to righteousness and sin not." The word awake means to arouse youself. When we become righteousness conscious we will begin to lay aside all sin and turn our back on wrong doing. We must walk in this righteousness, we have been made righteous by Jesus; but we do not automatically act righteous.

If you haven’t been walking in a sense of righteousness you can start right now, go to God according to 1 John 1:9 and ask his forgiveness and then begin to study the New Testament and you will learn how to walk in righteousness.

God loves you, he wants to see you prosper in life so you can help others prosper.
