cause the Bible prophesies another yet-to-come Antichrist called the "Beast” could be a sort of dictator, under whose strong rule "no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast.. .” In other words, the “Beast” would have the total support (or else be the puppet of) business and industry!
I might point out here, too, that of the three separate but equal divisions of our goverment, it is only the Congress which is popularly elected. The President is chosen by the Elector College, a body brought into existence for the sole purpose of preventing pure democracy.
Looking ahead to the future, we find that America’s prophetic destiny is to either expand into becoming or to serve as a bluprint for a planetary representative government of all nations, which has both sovereignty and control over all the war-making powers of the world (similar to the way the U.S. government now controls the military might of the 50 states).
One quickly sees the danger if a super-strong, dictatorial, empiric President of Earth were ever to hold such awesome and absolute power concentrated in his or her hands.
Rather than "turning back the clock” as Mr. Hawkins accuses, Congress is actually continuing the evolution of representative government in its proper course by expanding its role inherent in its constitutional power to declare war, keeping this power in the hands of representatives of those who must actually fight and die in war.
"Separation of powers” means exactly that. The original Framers ordered that the Commander-inChief of the military deploy Ids forces only in wars declared by and approved by Congress. Otherwise we must meet the “Beast” at Armageddon during our bi-millennial (but foreshortened) end-time. And that “Beast” is liable to be the President of the United States. The Bible warning was given to prevent this very thing.
