According to engineer Leonard Joyce, the Rappahannock supervisors can expect a letter this week from the State Department of Waste Management, approving the "preliminary design concept” for the proposed county landfill on the Stover tract and authorizing proceeding with the final design.
“Obviously we’re so far behind the clock right now, it’s unbelievable,” said Supervisor Nelson Lane, advocating that clearing and road construction in the 100acre site begin as soon as possible. "We have only 120 days,” he said, in reference to the three-month agreement with Culpeper County to take Rappahannock’s trash for disposal when the permit for the privately-owned and operated landfill on the Clark property in Woodville expires on the 31st of this month.
