rectors of the state’s Community Services Boards are soliciting support for a change in the distribution formula which sends 84 cents of every mental health dollar to the state hospitals and 16 cents to the local service providers.
“We have to put money in rent, utilities, insurance, and salaries,” Mrs. Gorman explained, adding that without service sites and service providers, there can be no services. The expenses in the first three categories are beyond the control of the agency’s director. She noted, for example, that professional liability insurance doubled this year, going from $21,000 to $43,000. “And we only had one bid. That money has to be squeezed from somewhere.”
