Rex Slack’s newest miniature construction - Night Train II - will be on display at Middle Street Gallery’s Christmas show this weekend only. It is a portrait of his mother in her living room, built into a 1950 Philco television set, complete with sound track.

Also featured at the show are the sensitive and delicate black and white photographs of Anne Douglas Atherton, watercolor landscapes by Donna Brune and Dan Lewis, pottery by Jeanne Drevas, handmade paper by Nina Moore, photographs by Clyde Lee and whimsical collages (Santa Celebrations) by Laurie Marshall. Gallery hours are 11-6, Friday through Sunday.

PTA holds toy exchange

The Rappahannock Elementary School PTA is sponsoring “The Great Toy Exchange” at RCES on Saturday. The event will offer parents and children a chance to sell unwanted toys, or purchase Christmas toys at discount prices for their siblings. Parents may clean out the attic and donate the toys to the PTA to be sold, with proceeds going to fund PTA activities. For more information about the sale contact Cindy Andreoni, 987-8750.

B&B open house and tour

The Bed and Breakfast Association of Rappahannock County is having an open house and tour on December 13. All seven B&B’s will be open. There will be a $5 charge. At the end of the event innkeepers will get together and each will draw a ticket for a free overnight in. their B&B. “This is a wonderful opportunity to see all the B&B’s in the county,” said a B&B member. Lions selling nuts

The members of the Rappahannock Lions Club are selling Deluxe Mix Nuts (no peanuts) for $6 lb., fancy pecan halves (fresh crop) at $5 lb., and honey-roasted peanuts in 12 oz. tins for $3.
