Classes are directed by Joanne Russell, RN, of the Culpeper County Health Department, and Ruth Partlow, LPN, of CMH’s Maternal/Child Health unit. Both nurses have firsthand personal and professional experience in the birth process, and they encourage an easy flow of communication in the classes. The opportunity to discuss questions about pregnancy and childbirth relieves fear and prepares the expectant couple for a smoother transition into parenthood.

Knowledge of what to expect during labor and delivery and practice in Lamaze breathing techniques are the key to an easier childbirth experience, says Dr. Russell Moy, Culpeper obstetrician.
