Sign up now through Dec. 15 for annual or long-term agreement for .conservation practices to be carried out in 1988 (and future years if covered by a long-term agreement). Requests must be made on an application form in the ASCS office by Dec. 15 and before a practice is started, according to T. V. Williams Jr., chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. :
Sign-up includes the following practices: Establishing or improving permanent vegetative cover, livestock watering facilities, sod waterways, planting or improving forest trees, and animal waste facilities. “Emphasis is on saving the most soil, so sign up on the area of your farm that is causing the most soil erosion,” Mr. Williams said.
