did my lights flicker?,
Flickering lights...flashing digital clocks...both can result when your electric service is disrupted even for a fraction of a second. Wind or lightning may be responsible. Branches or animals get on electric lines. Vehicles hit our power poles. Any of these can cause that short electrical disturbance along the power lines serving your home. When these things happen, our recloser, or “smart circuit breaker,” trips and attempts to reset itself. In many cases, the disturbance is cleared almost immediately. The recloser restores the line to normal operation and prevents a longer outage. You may not notice the electrical disturbance, but you will notice your digital clocks flashing. (A clock radio with a battery back-up can save you the inconvenience of resetting.) Next time you notice your lights flicker, keep in mind that the recloser is working for you. It’s one of the ways we work to assure you a reliable supply of electricity.
