Joel L. Jenkins of Flint Hill
has retired from the position of Star Route mail carrier after a career which spanned 39 years. Since 1933 he has taken the mail from Front Royal to Culpeper by way of Flint Hill, Washington, Sperryville and Culpeper. For a number of years he worked under a contract awarded W. B. Jenkins but in- later years has handled the contract himself.
10 YEARS AGO RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS From the Dec. 15, 1977, edition
Rappahannock County has
been awarded a federal grant for $10,400 to purchase an ambulance with a radio for emergency medical services. The Sperryville Rescue Squad will receive the ambulance.
Carollers will stroll through the streets of Washington singing to residents of the town on Friday evening, Dec. 23.
