U.S. Sen. Paul Trible today applauded the Senate passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Improvement Act which increases efforts to fight illiteracy.
Sen. Trible, who heads the Senate Task Force on Educational Excellence and Literacy, said, “Illiteracy is a personal tragedy for each adult who cannot read and has adverse economic consequences for the nation’s productivity and international competitiveness.
“Unfortunately, many adults who cannot read will unintentionally pass their literacy problems to the next generation.
