Volunteers receive much more than they give, for hospice volunteers learn the true meaning of living fully until that biological moment of death. It is very rewarding to take a client for a drive to view the turning of the leaves knowing that this is the last year he will see it, to bring a Bible tape to someone who no longer visits, to hang laundry outside to dry because all the dying person wants is to smell that fresh scent, dr to know that your support helped someone who wanted to die at home remain there instead of dying in a hospital or health care facility. These are all true experiences with which area hospice volunteers are familiar.
Hospice of the Rapidan serves clients in Rappahannock, Orange, Madison, and Culpeper counties. Financial support for the nonprofit agency derives from local donations, memorials, memberships, fund raising events, foundation grants and the United Way of Culpeper.
