Taylor Updike
H. Taylor Updike Sr., 79, of Washington, died March 3 in Charlottesville, following a lengthy illness. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of David Cleveland Updike and Margaret Partlow Updike.
Mr. Updike was a retired carpenter and served for many years as a member of the Washington Town Council.
He was predeceased by his wife Dora Nethers Updike, a brother Virgil R. Updike and a sister Kathleen Updike Scudere.
Survivors include a son H. Taylor Updike Jr. of Culpeper, two daughters, Anne Updike Parker of Culpeper and Gail Updike Newland of Centreville, five grandchildren, Brian Christopher Updike, Kellie Michele Updike, Franklin Lewis Parker, Philip Alan Parker and Cassandra Anne Parker, all of Culpeper, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted March 6 at Clore Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Hovis. Interment was at the Washington Cemetery in Rappahannock County.
Mollie Elliott
Mollie Mae Elliott, 72, of Amissville, widow of John Garfield Elliott, died March 6 at the Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton.
She was a native of Rappahannock County.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Hitt of Bealeton and Frances Cole of Amissville, six sons, Johnny Elliott and William Elliott, Amissville, Frank Elliott, Washington, Michael Elliott and Carl Elliott, Remington, and Charlie Elliott, Bealeton, a brother Ira Whorton, Bealeton, two sisters, Virginia Burke, The Plains, and Lena Raines, Mineral, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
