Registrar Ruth Kilby reminds county residents that Saturday, Oct. 8 is the last day to register to be eligible to vote in the general election on Nov. 8. The office, located in the Courthouse in Washington, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. , Saturday, as well as its usual hours of 8:30 - a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. ' Mrs. Kilby reported "a lot of new ones this time." The county had 3,255 voters on Sept. 7, she thinks the total is near 3,500* ’" * now. ? Hunter safety class
With big game season fast approaching, Game Warden Jim Bankston reminds residents that all first-time hunter and all hunters 16 years of age or younger, are required to present certification of completion of a Virginia Game Commission hunter education course before a hunting license will be issued. A class will be held at the Flint Hill fire hall on Oct. 17,18, and 19, from 6-9:30 p.m. There is no charge for the course, but participants must attend all three nights to earn a certificate of completion. 4-H Week celebrated This week, Oct. 2-8, is National 4-H Week. In recognition of the event, the Rappahannock News is presenting a special salute to 4-H and its activities in and around Rappahannock County. See page B-1. We join President Reagan in wishing the 4-H program another "Happy Birthday!"
