William Alther

William Alfred Alther, 79, of Rixeyville, died Sept. 23 at University of Virginia Hospital. He was a retired farmer.

His wife Neva Wharton Alther predeceased him. He is survived by three sons, Wade Alther, Floyd Alther and William Alther, all of Rixeyville; five grandchildren; two brothers, John Alther, Culpeper, and Thomas Alther, Catalpa, and one sister, Elizabeth Alther, Chicago, III.

A funeral service was conducted Sept. 28 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper with interment at Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Milton Switzer officiated.

Pallbearers were J. T. Woodward, Ricky Burke, Bruce Grigsby, Harvey Cole, Buddy Grigsby and Chris Parrish.

Julia Elizabeth Clatterbuck, 82, of Sperryville, widow of Harry Benton Clatterbuck, died Sept. 28 at Orange County Nursing Home.
