In this weeks article, I want to take a few lines to describe our church to you. Family Worship Center started as a brand new church about 4'/2 years ago with si* people and has grown to a congregation of nearly 90 people. We are a non-denominational, New Testament church. We stress the full counsel of God's word. We believe and teach that the Bible is to be applied in everyday life. We also believe and teach that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord, and that it is only through faith in Him, that one can be bom again and receive forgiveness of their sins. We leach very strongly that Jesus is not only to be savior of our lives, but Lord of our lives, in every area of our lives.
Now concerning the Holy Spirit, we believe and teach that the Holy Spirit and His gifts should have the freedom to move and express Himself in the church service. We believe that His ministry in the life of the believer is extremely important. We believe and teach based upon God’s Word, that every Christian needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. We teach that we need this power that the Holy Spirit gives in order to be an effective witness for Jesus Christ and to do His work.
I want to mention that we believe in the freedom to worship God openly in unashamed praise. Our worship services are a time of celebration and thanksgiving to God for His mercy and goodness. All of our songs are either scripture songs, which are Bible verses put to music, or they are songs given by the Holy Spirit that are based upon God's Word.
Our church has and is and always will be open to any race, color or creed. Our congregation at the present time is about half black and half white. I as pastor of this church do not tolerate prejudice or discrimination at all between blacks and whites. We are all created equal in God’s sight.
I don’t have enough space to tell of all the many different ministries of our church, concerning the children, the youth the poor, or missions. But I do want to say that this church is called by God to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and sick, suffering world.
