Warrenton Residency DUTIES: Compiles and checks Land Use Permits for commercial developers and contractors, utility companies and the general public and makes field Inspections for compliance to State Specifications on compaction for subgrades and final surfaces, drainage, sight distance, coverage on disturbed areas, percent grades on roadways and shoulders and final surface treatment on steels. Meets with the public in the field to determine proper areas for to obtain VDOT sight distances and drainage pipe location and si/e. Coordinates meetings for utility field inspections. Makes field inspections to determine State or Utility Cost for relocation of utilility facilities and checks final billing. Checks right ot way and property owners from clerk s office, works with other State Personnel to determine drainage area, percent grades and distance for sight, gathers information and completes forms tor streets and roads to be accepted into State Secondary System. QUALII1 ICATIONS: Knowledge of construction materials, methods and practices; principles and practices of roadway design; worksite traffic control and safety practices; general construction inspection techniques; organization of local city and county governments; and survey instruments and basic surveying procedures such as running levels. Skill in the use of surveying instruments. Ability to read and interpret rules, regulations, contracts, and construction plans and specifications; work effectively with people at several levels within different outside organizations, communicate efectively both orally and in writing; assess potential long-term effects design proposals and measure grades and sight distance using surveying instruments. Valid Virginia Operator,s License. Must pass certification scholls in Hydraulic Cement Concrete Construction, Central Mix Aggregate, Bituminuos Concrete Paving and Nuclear Safety Within two years of entering this class. Graduation from high school or related college course work and experience in the inspection of road projects including traffic management, finished concrete and drainage of experience in roadway design or an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating abilityto perform the work.
