Following almost two hours in executive session for personnel, contracts and potential litigation, the Rappahannock Supervisors returned to open meeting on Monday and voted unanimously to (1) terminate William A. Harrison as the county building inspector and (2) confirm County Administrator’s John McCarthy’s authority to fire Mr. Harrison on Sept. 30 for causes specified in a letter to the board.
Until a new building inspector is hired, Mr. McCarthy will handle the inspection duties.
The board also authorized Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke to negotiate with William Frizell, contract buyer for the Hampton Inn and Mildred Cebula, current owner of the restaurant which supplies the meals for prisoners at the Rappahannock jail, to continue the food services arrangement, the only change being provision for 45 days’ notice of contract withdrawal.
In other action at the September board meeting, the board:
