“I’d like eventually for every grade to have something special to look forward to . . . I saw a need and I also saw the money,” Mrs. Carney said, adding that she can write proposals designed for specific targets, not just the big givers, like the Ford and Rockefeller foundations, but also the hundreds of smaller, special interest organizations.
The decision-making body for a local public school foundation would be a board comprised of the superintendent of schools, a School Board member, teachers from both schools, and volunteers from the community, l)r. Gangel said. “There are no negatives,” he emphasized. “It either works well or it doesn’t work at all, and nowhere in that sjH*ctrum are there any negatives.”
