“It’s always been a dream of mine to put together a foundation” to support public education. Dr. David Gangel told the Rappahannock School Board at its September meeting. And with Mrs. Vinnie Carney volunteering to help with organizing and fund raising, the superintendent’s dream is on its way to becoming a reality.
The board unanimously endorsed the effort which Dr. Gangel stressed would be supplemental: “This would be additional funding to add extras to our educational programs which we couldn’t obtain through traditional (federal, state, and local) funding sources."
Solicitation for contributions to the non-profit, tax exempt foundation would be focused outside the county, according to the superintendent. “We don’t want to overtax the community.”
