Mt. Salem Baptist Church .
Mount Salem Church was organized in 1824. The present church was constructed of stone with walls two feet thick plastered inside and out and is located on Rt. 626 near Long Mountain. In 1942, the church was abandoned. Despite extensive vandalism, the building is still sound, and within the last 10 years a concerted effort by interested citizens has been made to restore it, much work being done, through voluntary contribution of money and time. Recently, the building was declared to be an historical landmark.
