In 1983 Mount Prospect passed to Col. and Mrs. Stewart Willis, who restored the exterior to its original appearance. For outdoor living there is a large octagonal porch to the left rear which affords a spot to catch the breeze and overlooks the original well, a swimming pool, the Jordan family burial plot and the surrounding mountains.
To the right of the lovely entry hall and staircase with local walnut bannister and newel post is the living room, to the left a library featuring a fine old Biedermeier desk from the 1850’s. At the end of the hall is the dining room, one wall displaying a collection of porcelain and china, others Oriental scroll and screen. Light is provided by an antique Baccart crystal chandelier. Beyond the dining room is a modem kitchen and a turn-of the Century style family room.
Floors are covered with a variety of antique Oriental and middle-eastern rugs. Family portraits and Chinese scrolls are displayed on the walls. Many of the accent pieces, bowls, carved teak tables and chests are Oriental, some collected during the Willis’ duty tour in the Far East.
