Schools closed for holiday < Rappahannock County's public schools dismissed on Thursday, Dec. 22 for the Christmas holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The high school basketball teams will not have a holiday, however. According to Coach Gary Leake, the Panthers have Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, but will return for practice on Monday. He plans two hours of practice each day next week, from 12:302:30 p.m. The Panthers resume their schedule with a road game against Central on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Recycling success continues *;.■ The county's fourth Community Recycling Day drew 84 households to the County park on Saturday, Dec. 17. According to litter coordinator Nina Stamer, the event was a success, although totals for goods collected were not available. Mrs. Stamer said that RALLY is in need of someone with a large pickup truck to transport plastics to Southern Scrap in Winchester. Piedmont Recycling is no longer collecting plastics, and if it is still to be recycled RALLY must find a volunteer willing to transport the material to Winchester, which is the closest alternative recycling company. Anyone interested in helping should call Mrs. Stamer (675- k . 3810).
