Councilman William Wickens added that the town has been told that the diameter of the water mains is insufficient for compliance with insurance regulations for fire flow.

“We will never pay for the system with lower insurance rates," Mr. Wickens added. “What is important is that if it’s my house that is on fire that there is enough water to fight that fire.”
“If you need that much water,” Mr. Miller replied, “that house is gone anyway. I’m not critical of anyone on council (who supports the project). I see that this whole nation is on a spending binge — and I see it coming here to Rappahannock County."
