For Ann and Richard Simmons, this New Year will bring more than resolutions. It brings the opening of their own business, Mountain Starter and Alternator.
Specializing in rebuilding starters and alternators for farm machinery and other large equipment, Mr. Simmons has had a steady stream of customers into his shop outside Washington, Va., since he first started working part-time this past June. But until now, his customers have had to catch him late in the evening or on weekends.
He’s also building a stable base of commercial customers in the surrounding area, including Wayland Ford and Rick Hunt Ford in Fauquier County. In fact, business is so good in Fauquier County that Mr. Simmons’ wife Ann has a daily pickup and delivery run into Warrenton.
This business is a big step, Mrs. Simmons said during an interview last weekend. “It’s kind of scary, resigning our jobs and realizing that we will be depending on what we do hprp ”
