Editor's note: The following poem, “Ante-Bellum Christmas," was written by Lucy Ellen Buckner in 1870. Mrs. Buckner, who lived at Barlow, in the F.T. Valley, was the grandmother of Mrs. Martha “Mattie” Ball Fletcher, who celebrated her 100th birthday last month. Mrs. Fletcher graciously granted permission to reprint her grandmother's ode to Christmases past. V
