Garden Club scholarships
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will again offer the Francis J. Leonard Memorial Scholarships to graduates of Rappahannock County High School. Three awards, one of $1,500 and two $400 grants, will be made. Applicants must be residents of the county, a member of the Clpss of 1990, have been accepted at an accredited school, demonstrate financial need and be recommended by three nonrelative residents. For additional information, contact the RCHS Guidance Department. The deadline for applications is next Tuesday, April 18.
RCHS prom April 21
Rappahannock County High School will hold its Junior-Senior Prom on Saturday, April 21 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the high school. Following the prom, the high school chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) will sponsor a a pool party and breakfast at Lakeside Swim v Club in Culpeper, from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Talent Show auditions
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community will hold its annual Talent Show on Saturday, June 30. Local residents are urged to attend one of the two auditions for the show, planned for Wednesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 25 at the Gay St. Theatre. There will be a volunteer appreciation dinner at the Washington fire hall on Monday, May 14. Sponsored by the Extension Homemakers, the County Extension Service and the county office of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center, the dinner has become an annual event to recognize the tremendous contribution to Rappahannock County by all the many volunteer organizations which serve the county and its residents. The guest speakers will be Nina Stamer and Cathie Shiff, who will discuss recycling and disposal of hazardous wastes in the home.. All volunteers are urged to bring a covered dish and join their neighbors at this affair, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Meat, beverages and tableware will be provided.
