Dancing at Blackwater Creek
There will be dancing at Blackwater Creek on the regular second Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. Country dancing will be featured including folk, square and contra dances. No previous experience necessary; instructions are provided for all dances. A small fee is charged to cover expenses. “Leave your troubles at home and come dance with us,” said an organizer. Lions Club auction
The Rappahannock Lion’s Club annual benefit auction will be held Saturday, May 12 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. “Many household items have been donated and we are looking for other new or used items,” said an organizer. Benefit auction for SVFD
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a benefit auction on Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to donate items should contact C.B. Johnson at 987-8264 or Tim Falls at 987-8142.
Breakfast, Easter egg hunt
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will hold an all-youcan-eat breakfast, 7 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 14 (please note date change from April 7) at the fire hall. The buffet menu will include scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage and gravy, bacon, hash browns, and fried apples, with juice, coffee and milk. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children, available at the door or in advance from any fire department member. A free Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to age groups 3 and under, 4-6 and 7-10. The Easter Bunny will also put in an appearance.
Beautification Day rescheduled
County Beautification Day was rained out last Saturday, and has been rescheduled for April 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at the county park. Volunteers should meet at the park for clean up assignments. Individuals and groups are welcome, and there will be refreshments and tshirts for all participants. The aluminum can drive will also be held that morning from 9:30-11:30 at the park, with proceeds to benefit the seventh grade trip to Williamsburg.
