It’s almost time again.
The trees are opening to their familiar greening of spring, the mornings warming to perfect running weather, the evenings light long after regular working hours.
Springtime in Rappahannock is Fodderstack time - this year, the 12th running of the annual Fodderstack Classic 10K Road Race.
The renowned road race between Flint Hill and Washington has a new date this year, April 28; moved from the traditional third Saturday to the fourth Saturday in April to avoid a conflict with another annual event in Char-° lottesville. But aside from the date change, the Fodderstack Classic remains the same - beginning at 10 a.m. runners will face the same challenging 6.2 mile course which meanders across hill and dale along the original stage coach road, ending in front of the county courthouse in historic Washington, Virginia.
“Entry forms are available in all the local stores,” said race committee organizer Jean Lillard. Registration forms are also available at the county building and zoning administrator’s office. Pre-registered runners will pay $10, while registration the day of the race, until 9:30 a.m., will cost $12.
