that he was traveling five days a week, heading out for another town whenever a client called. “I wanted to find a place to settle down and call home,” he said of his move to Rappahannock. He explained that he knew of Rappahannock County through friends in Madison and Fauquier, and decided he liked the small-town atmosphere here. “It takes a while to get used to the change in pace,” he admitted, but he’s enjoying it. “I’ve climbed Old Rag — you can’t climb a mountain in D.C.” Right now, Mr. Peterson’s duties at Rappahannock National are mostly behind the scenes. He is working on long-range planning, “determining our needs to better serve the community.” Gradually, he added, he expects to become more involved in lending and “outfront” activities. “I realize I’m the new kid on the block. I’m sure that it will take a while for people to get to know me and be comfortable with me. It won’t happen overnight —especially when I’ve moved in from outside the area.
