The budget approved by the Fauquier School Board is up 20.3 percent from this year. Warren County’s school budget would increase 15.2 percent if their supervisors approve. Culpeper’s school budget is up 9.8 percent; Page County’s school budget is up 9.2 percent, and Madison’s is up 8.8 percent.
In Rappahannock’s school budget, state funds are a smaller percentage of next year’s budget than this year’s: 29.5 percent compared to 34.2 percent. Only Fauquier’s budget shows a similar trend. Next year state funds will account for 21.3 percent of its budget, compared to 24.8 percent this year.
In the four other surrounding counties state funds as a percentage of the budget are due to increase: from 38.7 percent to 40.1 percent in Culpeper County; from 41.4 percent to 41.6 percent in Warren County; from 51.4 percent to 54.3 percent in Page County, and from 42.7 percent to 46.3 percent in Madison County.
Despite seeming parity with Fauquier, however, only Rappahannock County shows an actual decrease in dollar amounts for state funds for next year from $1.4 million
