The board also heard fourth grade teacher Amy Wolf report that all fourth graders will be participating in a science project with NASA.
The board also learned that although enrollment dropped steadily each year from 1980 to 1987, it has now leveled off. In 1980 Average Daily Membership was 1,162. By 1987 ADM had dropped to 917. It increased to 937 in 1988, but dropped again to 919 in 1989. ADM this year is 921.
In other action, the School Board:
• accepted the resignations of teachers Carla Scott, Jill Marks, and Richard Dietz.
• learned that a banquet will be held May 15 to dedicate the computer labs at both schools with officials from Potomac Edison and Apple Computer Company as invited guests.
• voted to apply for bank time in case it is needed next year for days missed in school due to bad weather.
• learned that efforts are underway to offer a masters degree program to teachers locally.
