The Eva L. Smith Memorial Trc phy is another prized Fodderstac tradition. The Smith Memorial i awarded to the first male and femal Rappahannock County runner to fir ish, and honors the late Eva L Smith, who was instrumental in or ganizing the first Fodderstack Clas 3ic in 1978.
“She was a delightful lady wh felt that a race along the Fodders tack Road would be successful,” Ms Lillard said, adding that Mrs Smith’s son was an avid runner, giv ng her the idea for the race.
Last year’s Smith Memorial win lers, Frank Reynolds and Nim Stamer, are expected to defend thei ;itles once again. For Mr. Reynolds he 1990 race will be a benchmark is he seeks his tenth consecutivi Smith Memorial award.
