County Teen Club honored
The Rappahannock 4-H Teen Club was recently notified it received an honorable mention in the 1991 Virginia Take Pride in America program.
The Teen Club will recieve the award during a statewide ceremony in the spring.
The club was notified of the award by • a letter from Leon E. App, state Take Pride in America program coordinator with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Library plans book sale
The Rappahannock Public Library will hold “a sweetheart of a book sale" from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 15.
Those interested in donating books are requested to bring them to the library on U.S. 211-522 in Washington, Va. Call 675-3780 for more information.
County 2Gth in tax bunion
Rappahannock County's local tax burden ranks 26th out of Virginia's 95 counties, according to figures from the U.Va. Center for Public Service.
The adjusted average local tax bill in the county is $690.
Other area counties, their adjusted average tax bills and their state ranks: Fairfax, 1st, $2,629; Fauquier, 7th, $1,095; Culpeper, 17th, $800; Warren, 49th, $471 ; and Page, 87th, $297.
Among the state's independent cities, Alexandria was first with a bill of $2,526 and Martinsville was last with a bill of $453.
