Mr. Fishback has seen not just poverty but wealth. He has experienced not only gracious welcomings but questioning inhospitality.
In Mexico City, after the earthquake of 1986, Mr. Fishback said he was amazed at the wealth, not the poverty of the situation. “It was a real culture shock,” he said.
