The home of Leslie Samuels on Route 680 in Castleton was burglarized sometime since Dec. 1, and a variety of household items were stolen, according to Sheriff John H. Woodward.
Entering through an upstairs window via a porch roof, the burglar or burglars took a $40 Sears wheelbarrow, a $175 Stihl chainsaw, a $10 ax, a $175 Sony 19-inch TV with remote, a $125 Panasonic stereo with cassette, a $150 Panasonic microwave, a $15 can opener and a variety of tools, said the sheriff.
The break-in was reported on Jan. 25.
In other police news this week:
• A female passenger was injured in a two-car accident on U.S. 211 in Rappahannock County, just east of Skyline Drive, during the snowstorm last week, according to Sgt. G.A. Morris of the State Police.
Calvin Teschendorf, 53, of Wardensville, W.Va. was operating a 1990 Chevy eastbound on U.S. 211 when he went into a curve and lost control, coming into the path of a 1986 Buick, operated by 41-year-old Stephen Boyer of Falmouth, said Sgt. Morris. Carolyn Boyer, a passenger in the Buick, was injured in the collision.
The Chevy sustained $2,000 in damages; the Buick $1,500.
