Commission to hold hearings

The Governor has appointed a Commission on Campaign Finance Reform, Government Accountability, and Ethics to be chaired by A. E. Dick Howard of the University of Virginia’s School of Law.

Del. Jerry Wood, D-31, invites all interested citizens to attend any of the scheduled public hearings the Commission will hold. The public hearings are scheduled for Norfolk on July 23, Annandale on July 30, and Blacksburg on Aug. 4. The Annandale hearing will be at the Northern Virginia Community College on Little River Turnpike.

Del. Wood asks that interested persons contact his office in Warrenton> (703-341-3463) for more details or a list of the Commission members. Citizens wishing to speak are asked to bring a prepared text of their remarks for submission to the commission. Oral presentations are limited to five minutes each.

“I look forward to positive action on Campaign Finance Reform by the General Assembly resulting from the findings of this Commission,” stated Del. Wood. “I have heard my constituents express the same frustration I feel regarding the current condition of campaign finances. This commission is a first step in the right direction.”
