Snyder, who mother, Annie Snyder, became a local heroine for many when she fought and won a battle to keep Battlefield Park in Manassas out of the hands of developers.
For those interested in building a new home with an antique flavor, Mr. Ellis and Mr. Snyder provide an unusual service. They can produce old mantels or wainscoting or other interesting architectural appointments from the past and incorporate them into a newly built home.
They keep pictures on file of orlder homes that are ready to be torn down for clients to study and subsequently select various items from the house that they might want.
Mr. Snyder explained that the photos they keep are available primarily to give people an idea of the different ways to individualize their homes. “In our business, we are always running across wonderful things that could be used for this purpose,” Mr. Snyder said.
“For those individuals who are looking for these particular items, we can serve as the supplier and the installer,” he continued. “Sometimes an old mantle or antique wainscoting incorporated into a room can make all the difference,” he added.
Pageland also reconstructs homes, in particular log homes, and they also build homes from kits. “We pride ourselves on doing, first of all, quality work,” said Mr. Snyder. “But the thing we particularly pride ourselves on is always finishing on time, which, by far, is the most difficult thing in the building industry to accomplish.”
“We have an excellent track record in that area,” he added.
